SPN 5x21

Niiice.

-Matt Frewer was awesome. On the one hand, I'm kind of bummed that they didn't have the horsemen around for more episodes this season; on the other hand, I'm not that fond of watching people puke, so I guess it's a toss-up.

-I completely adore cranky, mostly-human Castiel with his bug bites and headaches and regrets.

-Crowley = also awesome. I wonder about the first place they went to - think Lucifer was inside? I'd be unsurprised if this were all Lucifer's plan to get Sam into a position where he thinks he has the upper hand and says yes willingly.

Guess they're going to Detroit next week.

-The scene with Death was great. Nice casting, and a suitably creepy tension. The only problem with having him hand Dean the ring was that it made the episode rather anticlimactic - there are violent showdowns earlier in the episode, but then Sam and Dean's missions both conclude without a bang. But it's the second-to-last ep of the season, so I'm not too bothered.

-It's kind of weird to me that Dean and Bobby have to debate Sam's competence, or that Bobby even has to ask if Dean is worried about losing his brother. Has he suddenly developed amnesia? Does he need to go back and take Remedial Winchester 101?

-What are the odds on Bobby and/or Cas dying next week? Of course, it always looks like they're setting Bobby up to die, and he never does. I do hope they keep Castiel around for next season, though. New-to-humanity issues are always good for some laughs (and/or angst). And I may be the only person who watched the SPN pilot and wished, then and consistently thereafter, that there was another character or two hunting with the Winchesters on a regular basis. Character death is the obvious choice, Kripke! Do something different for once!

enigel: Aziraphale shielding Crawly under his wing (SPN Sam awesome)

Gah, didn't think about this possibly being Part of the Masterplan. :( Even though it's very duplicitous of the show that Ruby was an evil demon who claimed to want to help, and Crowley is a good demon who sends legs and wants to help.

Bobby's amnesia - a side effect of selling his soul? :D I know I was looking askance at the screen and going "Seriously?! Is this the kind of question to ask Dean after everything they've been through? Is this even the kind of reminder / for-dummies explanation that the audience needs?"

Caaaaaaaas.
