..and on the other side of the equation, in states like Italy and, it seems, increasingly Germany, the platform provider is seen as a content provider responsible for uploaded content (and all that legally entails. Ouch. Or in other words, no safe harbour provision in German copyright law?). So they may legally required to crack down hard and throw any kind of consumer rights/fair use considerations out of the window.

Nakedly industry-interest legislation like that frustrates me. >:/
