Oh, Livejournal...

Leaving aside the Facebook/Twitter crossposting privacy issues... (see the latest LJ news post)

What LJ also seems to have done in the last update is break all tag links with a / in them, which is pretty deeply annoying for fans, who use those tags a lot. However, I've noticed that if you replace the "%2F" in the generated link with an actual "/", it will take you to the right page. So that should theoretically be easy for them to fix - you shouldn't need to edit all your tags unless they decide to be willfully incompetent. In the meantime, I bet someone has already made a Greasemonkey script that will unbreak them for you. (I wondered if new tags would work or not, but nope - they apparently just changed the code without trying it out at all.)

the feature itself is not a bad idea, but terribly executed both in terms of usability and privacy concerns.

Reminds me why I went from being a translation volunteer and a paid user to not even allowing comments there.

I think fandom should just completely migrate off LJ, since you know they don't care about us at all. *shrug*
